About this tool
Glycemic Load adjusts the Glycemic Index for actual carbohydrate amount per serving — more useful than GI alone for blood-sugar planning.
Formula
GL = (GI × carbs_g) / 100
Worked example
Watermelon GI ≈ 72 but a serving has only ~6 g carbs → GL = 72×6/100 ≈ 4.3 (low).
Notes
GL categories: ≤10 low, 11–19 medium, ≥20 high. Diabetics often target a daily GL under 100.
