Compute the unloaded output voltage of a resistive voltage divider.
Formula
V_out = V_in · R₂ / (R₁ + R₂)
Worked example
9 V input, R₁ = 1 kΩ, R₂ = 2.2 kΩ → V_out = 9 · 2.2/3.2 ≈ 6.19 V.
Notes
This formula assumes no load. If the next stage draws current, the output sags. To minimize sag, make R₁ and R₂ much smaller than the load impedance.
