About this tool
Translational kinetic energy of a point mass moving with velocity v.
Formula
KE = ½ · m · v²
Worked example
5 kg moving at 10 m/s → KE = 0.5 × 5 × 100 = 250 J.
Notes
KE scales with the square of velocity — doubling speed quadruples energy. This is why crashes at highway speeds are disproportionately violent.
