Formula
M = n / V
Worked example
0.5 mol of NaCl dissolved into 2 L → M = 0.25 mol/L.
Notes
Volume is the volume of the entire solution, not the solvent alone. To make 1 L of 1 M NaCl, dissolve 58.44 g and bring up to 1 L total.
