About this tool

Compute paint quantity required from total wall area (sqft), coverage rate per gallon, and number of coats.

Formula

gallons = (wallArea × coats) / coverageRate

Worked example

400 sqft, 350 sqft/gal coverage, 2 coats → ~2.3 gal (round up to 3).

Notes

Most flat interior paints cover 350–400 sqft/gal. Textured or dark colors over light may need 3 coats. Always round up to the nearest full gallon (or quart).
